AWES Undergraduate Wind Engineering Prize

2025 Undergraduate Wind Engineering Prize

Undergraduate Engineering and Architecture students in Australasia are invited to submit a five-page summary of their thesis/project to be judged for the AWES Undergraduate Wind Engineering Prize. The award will consist of a cash prize of AU$1,000 and an invitation to present their research at the next Australasian Wind Engineering Society Workshop, planned to be held in early 2026 (registration fee will be waived).

The format of the 5-page submission is specified in the template document. Wind engineering topics covering meteorology, wind loading and structural response (of buildings or their appurtenances, bridges, towers, etc.), architectural aerodynamics, ventilation/dispersion, wind energy, wind hazard, vulnerability, snow/sand drift, pedestrian comfort or safety, etc. will be accepted. Projects related to Wind Engineering may include, but are not limited to, computational wind engineering (CWE/CFD), wind-tunnel testing, numerical modelling, structural response or prototype measurements.

The five-page submission plus cover sheet, including full contact details of student(s) and supervisor(s), should be submitted as a single pdf document to: chair@awes.org by December 01, 2025. Each Organizational Unit (i.e. Department or School) within Universities in Australia, New Zealand or the South Pacific may nominate up to two theses/projects.

Judging will be completed by mid-December 2025 and the winner notified by email. The decision of the AWES is final.
